A Few Tips for Weathering COVID-19

Updated: Dec 10, 2020

Artio Services is fortunate to collaborate with Naturopath, Dr. Meredith Blalock. Dr. Blalock can help outline wellness strategies for companies, organizations, or teams that may be facing negative healthcare impacts. During the pandemic crisis, however, she is extending additional support and scheduling calls. She has outlined some tips below and included her direct contact with any questions.

Stay safe and well friends!

A lot of you may be feeling stressed and confused about what actions to take. I am doing my best to stay up to date on the current recommendations from both the public health and individual health perspectives. New information is available daily and we are all learning together.  To help you and your loved ones and community stay as healthy as possible, the following are the best recommendations I have come across so far: 1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for 30 seconds at a time (sing ABCs or Happy Birthday twice to reach 30 seconds) 2. Avoid touching your face and cough into your elbow. 3. STAY HOME (even if you are not experiencing symptoms). Anyone can be a carrier and pass on the virus. This is extremely important in our effort to slow the spread (and maintain room in our hospitals). It may seem like an over reaction, and I have felt this myself over the past weeks. After speaking with colleagues and hearing stories from those affected, I can assure you it is not. 4. Pay attention to recommendations being made in the states hit most severely by this. We can help decrease the severity of the impact in Oklahoma if we follow these recommendations before we are told to do so. We also need to remember our basic naturopathic medical knowledge: 1. Eat whole foods, including plenty of vegetables 2. Get plenty of sleep 3. Relax and use your stress management strategies daily 4. Follow your treatment plans given to you 5. If appropriate for you, increase immune support and anti-viral herbs. I will be working to keep/get these in stock and/or send links so that you can order them. I will send a follow up email on general recommendations. 6. Stay hydrated. Drink at least half of your body weight in ounces per day.  7. Avoid sugar! This will increase immune function. If you start to have symptoms avoid dairy and citrus as well to decrease mucous production. I am now having phone visits rather than office visits and am working to get zoom visits so we can see each other’s lovely faces J If you need to pick up supplements I am offering curbside service. Together we will get through this! Thank you all for following recommendations and keeping our community as safe as possible. My thoughts are with you all and I am here if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Meredith Blalock, ND P: 405-602-0266
